Auto Repair Services for Spring!

TLC Driving

Spring is here. As a vehicle owner, that means it is your responsibility to ensure your automobile has been serviced at a trustworthy auto repair shop for the warmer and wetter upcoming months. Suggestions for the right auto repair services include checking your alignment, changing the oil and fluids, rotating tires, inspect brakes, and battery.

Consider that the alignment and suspension can be out of whack after the winter months due to the potholes, causing your vehicle to pull to one side or the steering wheel to vibrate. Also, remember that changing the oil and filter after the winter months is the best way to ensure your engine continues to run trouble free. If neglected, your fuel efficiency (MPG) will suffer as well as the possibility of damaging your engine. Schedule an appointment at your auto repair shop to have other fluids checked and replaced as necessary, including power steering, brake, transmission, windshield washer, and coolant.

A good auto repair shop will also check your tire pressure (including the spare) to prevent uneven tread or irregular wear, resulting in having to purchase new tires earlier than necessary. As part of the typical auto repair services recommended, a tire rotation may be recommended. Or, if your tire or too worn or damaged, it may be wise to purchase new tires.

Double check to ensure your windshield wipers are in good working order. Many times after the winter months they become torn or cracked. Because of the heavy showers in the spring, you will want to ensure that you have good visibility.

An inspection of your brakes should be done to be sure they are functioning properly. Your auto repair mechanic should check to see that the pads and rotors have no issues so that your safety is secured. If this is neglected, a much costlier repair job could be looming in your future.

The winter months can also be tough on your car battery. Check to be sure that it is securely mounted and that the connections are clean and free of corrosion. Consider replacing it if it is more than five years old.
